All Hallows Eve
Rough draft
On a wild, winters night this tale is set,
In a land of ghouls, but you mustn’t fret.
Stand tall, be brave and bold,
Come sit by the fire, let this story unfold.
There was a land ruled by pumpkins, who knew nought but peace and joy,
until their comfort was shattered, by the pumpkin kings boy.
For many, many years, the pumpkins had a peace they could keep
For their enemies, the Witches, were trapped in eternal sleep.
It was a cold, dark night in pumpkin town, nothing stirred. Down the long cobbled streets the tall, black street lights had their candles lit, as did all the tall houses that lined each side of the street. The houses had to be tall because, I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen one but, pumpkins are very tall people, with long stick like bodies and very large and very round pumpkin heads. If you’ve ever seen one of these pumpkins then i'm sure you’ll agree they’re very funny to watch. They’re slightly hunched due to their very heavy heads and thin bodies which means they often fall over and struggle to get back up. There is a rumour amongst the older pumpkins that a very clumsy pumpkin once went wandering off on his own and “toppled”, he never got up and its said that his ghost still haunts the beach to the south of pumpkin town. Old Norbert Triptova, they say, can still be heard on quiet nights asking for help to get to his feet. “Help me up, dinner will be burning!” They say he shouts. The other theory, which is more likely, is that the ghost pirates took him and, well, did what ever it is ghost pirates do to their prisoners, no-one knows for sure because no-one has ever returned to tell the tale.
